The film revolves around a group of guardians – Santa Claus (Alec Baldwin), Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), The Sandman, and Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher) – joining forces along with Jack Frost (Chris Pine) when The Bogeyman (Jude Law) enacts a plan to bring “total darkness” into the world by destroying the hopes and dreams of children everywhere.
Rise of the Guardians, formerly titled The Guardians of Childhood and previously titled The Guardians, is an upcoming 3D computer-animated action-adventure comedy film which will be based on William Joyce’s The Guardians of Childhood book series. It will be produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures, and is set for release on November 21, 2012.
The film stars Chris Pine, Isla Fisher, Hugh Jackman, Alec Baldwin, Jude Law and Dakota Goyo. It is being directed by Peter Ramsey and co-directed by Joyce, the creator of Rolie Polie Olie, PBS Kids’s George Shrinks, Fox’s 2005 film Robots, and Disney’s 2007 film Meet the Robinsons.
Under distribution by Paramount Pictures and production by DreamWorks Animation, the film is scheduled for a November 21, 2012 release in American theaters.
The film’s first trailer was released on March 28, 2012 and later debuted with Titanic 3D, The Pirates! Band of Misfists, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted and Brave.
The film’s second trailer was released on July 6, 2012.
